Note

A note for myself about Constance May Armstrong.

After Thomas Loughborough died, his widow Sophia has a girl called Constance May Armstrong (CMA), mother's maiden name Boodle living with her, listed as niece. I do like a mystery, but this is straying off the main path a bit.

I'm busy looking for siblings of Sophia who could be the parent(s), but I wonder if she is someone's 'love child'. The family seem solidly based in the posh parts of London, but CMA was born in Tunbridge.

In 1911 Sophia has another 'niece, visitor', Helen Caroline Graham, single, 42, born Newport Isle of Wight living/visiting with her.

Going back, in 1851 Sophia, niece, is living in the household of Francis Dumergue/Dumerque (Barrister in Practice, born Middlesex about 1816), and his wife, Ann, along with many nieces and a nephew (it continues overleaf!). They seem very well-to-do.

I can't find a marriage record.

I also got a will, 7 pages, closely written script, free from The National Archive, possibly dated 1836, possibly an ancestor. I also found an 1842 Scottish Post Office Directory with an advert for THE ECONOMIC, LIFE ASSURANCE SOCIETY, listing Francis as an auditor.
